For Insect and Spider Bites:
- Remove stinger if possible.
- Wash with soap and water.
- If victim develops itching, or irritation, call the Poison Center for instructions.
- If patient develops breathing problems, wheezing or swelling around the lips or tongue, Call
911!
According
to the Hays County Animal Control Ordinance (download below), any person having knowledge of a bite to a human by any warm-blooded
animal shall report the incident to the Animal Control Officer as soon as possible. The owner, if any, of the biting
animal shall place the animal in quarantine as prescribed in Section 7 under the supervision of the Animal Control Officer.
The Animal Control Officer shall investigate each bite incident reported.
